Avatar and Ne Zha 2 Neck and Neck for 2025 Box Office Crown

The race to become 2025’s Highest Grossing Film worldwide has taken a major turn, with Avatar: Fire and Ash and Chinese animated epic Ne Zha 2 now installed as 1/1 joint favourites in the latest market from Paddy Power.

With blockbuster box office buzz building around animated sequels and long-awaited franchise returns, the global earnings title is far from decided, especially with a Minecraft Movie resurgence shaking up the early predictions.

Both Avatar: Fire and Ash and Ne Zha 2 are given a 50% chance by UK Betting Sites of topping the Box Office figures at the end of the year in what looks to be a competitive race.

Zootopia 2 is a sleeper movie in the market too with Disney animations usually doing brilliantly at the Box Office.

What the expert says...
This is the first time we’ve seen a true neck-and-neck market for box office supremacy. Avatar remains the Hollywood favourite, but Ne Zha 2’s numbers in Asia make it a genuine rival.

Can Mission Impossible Crack the Top?

Released this week, Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning marks the final chapter for Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt, but bookmakers remain sceptical about its total box office pull, pricing it as a 16/1 outsider.

While previous Mission Impossible films have been consistent performers, none have challenged year-end global revenue leaders.

This final instalment may see a spike from nostalgia and critical buzz, but it faces tough competition from animated heavyweights and global franchises with massive repeat-viewer potential.
