Gary Neville evens favourite to be a permanent Dragon on Dragons Den

Betting odds are now given on who will be the next Dragon on BBC's hit series Dragons' Den with former footballer Gary Neville leading the way in the market after his previous guest appearance on the show.

Sara Davies announced that she would be stepping back from the show "for now" to focus on her own businesses and now there are various big names in the running to replace her.

The show has been running since 2005 on BBC Two and later moved to BBC One and is based on the original Japanese show "Money Tigers".

This year's series has seen various guest investors come into the Den to appear on the panel and they all unsurprisingly feature in the market to make it a permanent role in future.

Gary Neville was the first guest Dragon and he tops the odds at evens to replace Davies on the show with the early odds giving a 50% chance of him doing so.

Sara Davies announced she is leaving Dragons Den last week

Dragon Sara Davies announced that she would be stepping down from the show in an emotional Instagram post last week where she spoke about becoming CEO of Crafter's Companion once again.

"As a lot of you will know, I’ve taken up my position again as CEO of Crafter’s Companion and my business is my big priority this year. And when I commit to a business, I really commit, which is why I find Dragons’ Den such a rewarding role.

"As well as filming an incredible show, being a Dragon requires so much dedication and time behind the scenes as you join the life of each business you invest in.

"It means seeing through your investment and committing to your part in that organisation. It’s so much more than a TV show.

"That’s why I’ve taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business, which was my first baby! So I won’t be filming with the team this year for the next series."
