What the expert says..
Christmas Day last year saw the BBC dominate the ratings with the top 6 shows all on the network
Without the King's Speech on the BBC, the network still would have dominated the viewing ratings on Christmas Day last year with the top 6 shows all on BBC One.
Strictly Come Dancing's Christmas Special was the most popular show excluding the King's Christmas Day broadcast with 5.4m viewers on the BBC.
Charlotte Moore, BBC’s Chief Content Officer says: “Winning the Christmas Day ratings caps off an incredible centenary year of world class content on the BBC."

Doctor Who is second favourite in the betting market with further specials around the programme too
Doctor Who is facing a massive year for the programme with David Tennant returning for 60th anniversary special shows expected to air in November.
December then should see Ncuti Gatwa make his debut as the famous timelord with Tennant actually being the Fourteenth Doctor after Jodie Whittaker.
Gatwa will then regenerate into the Fifteenth Doctor and his Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling is also rumoured to be starring in the show.
Gosling reportedly told Gatwa how much of a fan he was of Doctor Who while filming Barbie and he is now expected to appear in Doctor Who at some point in the upcoming series.
