Oppenheimer now 2/1 favourite to win Best Picture at 2024 Oscars
Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer is now 2/1 with bookmakers to win the 2024 Best Picture award at the Oscars nearly a week on from when it was released.
The Barbenheimer effect has well and truly kicked in now with Oppenheimer making more than $220m worldwide at the Box Office whereas Barbie has smashed that with $472m made so far.
With more time of both films being out we should see them kick on further and in doing so will make the Academy have eyes on them being nominated for the Best Picture award.
Paddy Power now make Oppenheimer favourite for Best Picture at 2/1 ahead of long time favourite Killers of the Flower Moon which is expected to be released later this year.

Barbie into 8/1 to win the award in what would be a massive shock
Barbie's odds to win Best Picture have been slashed from 25/1 down to 8/1 in recent days following it's early success at the Box Office.
The movie has already made nearly $500m at the Box Office just 6 days after being released and is on track to being one of the biggest films of all-time the way that it is going.
Despite being a massive hit with film-goers, this may not make it a player at the Oscars but the odds now suggest that there's an 11% chance of it winning the big award with a Best Picture win.
Realistically though it would be a massive achievement in itself if it was even nominated for the award with Box Office success not always translating to Best Picture nominations.

When will the 2024 Oscars take place?
The 2024 Oscars are set to take place on Sunday March 10 2024 but if the ongoing writers and actor strikes continue to go on we may see it get postponed.
It would be a massive shock for the strikes to continue for that long though so we should be ok for next year's Oscars ceremony.
The show will be held in the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will be the 96th Academy Awards.
