Aaron Ramsdale looked increasingly like he was joining Wolves at the start of the week but the transfer fell apart on Tuesday after the West Midlands club couldn't agree a fee.
Wolves had reportedly offered a loan for Ramsdale with the option to buy of around £20m but this wasn't deemed enough for the Gunners and Wolves couldn't afford a higher deal.
Gary O'Neil is now looking at signing Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace with the expected fee around £10m according to BBC Sport.
