Avatar 2 the last competitor to snatch top spot on the highest grossing movie battle
The latest sportsbooks odds for the Highest Grossing Film of 2022 say that Avatar 2 is the last competitor to take the main spot at the top for the year off of Top Gun: Maverick.
The sequel to the highest grossing film of all-time Avatar is set to have a massive performance at the Box Office during it's festive release period.
Generally Top Gun: Maverick is still the favourite to top the Grossing charts but Avatar 2's release on this Friday will show us in the first week if there's a chance of it going to number 1.
Highest Grossing Film Worldwide 2022 | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Top Gun: Maverick | -200 | 66.7% |
Avatar 2 | +188 | 34.8% |
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | +5000 | 2.0% |
Strange World | +10000 | 1.0% |
Babylon | +10000 | 1.0% |
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released last month and has made over $769m at the Box Office worldwide so far.
There's a 2% chance that the Marvel movie can go on and surpass Top Gun: Maverick before the end of the year.
Avatar 2 is the only film left to be released this year with any chance of knocking Top Gun: Maverick off the top spot of the highest grossing films of 2022. Avatar's Friday release date may not give it enough time at the Cinema to beat Top Gun though with just two weeks left in the year.

Top Gun: Maverick still leads the way at -200 to be top grossing
Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick remains the heavy favourite to be the highest grossing film this year.
So far at the Box Office the movie has made just under $1.5 billion this year and it'll take something special to surpass that.
Top Gun: Maverick is by far the biggest film of Tom Cruise's career with Mission Impossible: Fallout second at just under $800m made.
This is almost $700m less than what the second Top Gun movie has made which shows just how impressive his latest movie has been.
