3:00 York Tips

Did have a nice bet on this one antepost and 3/1 would probably be slightly too short for my liking now. 1m course at York favors front runners, which I'm sure we've all seen by now he is. I've been holding off betting the last twice knowing his run style wouldn't suit Ascot. However, he has run with enormous credit both times, being beaten 0.75L and 0.5L in his last two. The first being by My Cloud, who is likely a group performer. May be too high in the weights now, but that's the only way I see him getting beaten. Very likely to be in Group races before long and does have an entry in the 1m1f Group 3 here on Saturday.

This horse looks very much like a group class horse in a handicap. Has only had 4 lifetime runs and there should be plenty of improvement left. Won here last time and can win again carrying a 4lbs penalty.

A horse that has a liking for this course and was a bit unlucky last time out at Galway, given too much to do from the back, looks valuable.

Just the 4th start this term and looks the type to have more improvement after winning here earlier in the season in the Hambleton, with the 4th winning next time out to frank form. Same mark here as when 4th LTO behind Remmooz here when not getting the clearest of runs.

After having no luck at the Goodwood Festival & just failing to get up at Newbury on Saturday, David O'Meara's 5yo must be the bet here over a furlong more. He's shown he stays a mile in the past & is due to go up 5lb in the future. York & Newbury are similiar tracks & a reproduction of his run 5 days ago would be enough.

Three runs this year for the 5yo. Something amiss last time out but he's worth another chance judged on his previous run. He was beaten just a nse that day, the front two had pulled clear and the winner 'More Thunder' has since won a Group 2 and earned a huge 117 rating. Good draw and jockey booking for this handicap.

I'm favoring the low side of the draw, with Sisyphean and the likely favorite Bullet Point going forward from their stalls. With competition for the lead, I think it could pay to be delivered late. There are a few that catch the eye but don't look to have peak race conditions. La Trinidad is now an 8-year-old but has good York form, including when 3rd here earlier in the year from a mark of 98. His style of racing should suit the pace on offer, and the quick ground will also help his chances. Stable form is better than it would appear at first glance, with no winners but 4x 2nds and 2x 3rds from 13 runners in the last fortnight.

This horse looks great each-way value, being weighted to go close with Bullet Point. This trainer has previously won this with a horse at huge odds, and he may well do so again today, with this one bang at the bottom of the weights with a very capable jockey on board.

Will appreciate the drop in trip after 3 races over a mile and a quarter. Raced over this trip at Royal Ascot in the Royal Hunt Cup prior to that, 10th of 30 but 3rd of 17 in the near side group beat 6.5 lengths off a 2 pound higher mark. Didn’t get the clearest of runs in the Royal Hunt Cup but ran on well in the closing stages. Could be each way appeal here with 5 places available.
