Stepped up in distance at Southwell, James Choice finished a strong second behind a next-out winner. Bred to stay further, he looks primed to build on that form at Wolverhampton today.

Taken a few runs but finally everything clicked at Southwell latest when 3rd by just under two lengths in field of fourteen runners. Gave a decent account near the front towards the end of the race from a very high draw, but ran out of steam when trying new distance. Owner is statistically due a winner, and yard has had four winners in four runs across the entire weekend. Decent draw for the horse and a jockey coming back into form. NAP.

Pace Attack is one of the more intriguing handicap debutants on Monday's cards and remains worth supporting at 6.00 despite being slightly shorter than the early forecast. His three qualifying runs have all suggested that shorter distances were failing to play to his strengths, and he now makes the significant jump to a mile and a half for his first handicap appearance. His pedigree strongly suggests that extra distance should suit, and the form guide specifically highlights the possibility that his opening mark of 67 may underestimate him. The Sir Mark Prescott stable has a long-established reputation for improving horses when moving them into more suitable stamina tests, although the racecard evidence itself is the key reason for the selection here. James Choice and Prince Of Calypso bring stronger recent handicap form, but Pace Attack has much more potential to improve suddenly. At 6.00 the upside makes him a worthwhile each-way bet.

Although B/F still put up a decent effort on turf @ Redcar Lto. Is a C/D winner with a 42 percent course profile, retains same mark here, good jockey back up and shrewd trainer who is running @ 30 percent last 14 days, best here with his 4yo plus last 5 seasons, making current 7.50 very good Ew value in the race.

Second on first two starts and ran a poor race on third start when strongly backed. Will need to bounce back from that run but now handicapping could have a better chance now. Unexposed with possible progress.

His latest run, when finishing fourth over today's course and distance, is his best since he won at Lingfield in April. If that heralds a return to his best, he should be competitive off a mark only one pound higher than for that success.

This horse is an interesting contender in this race. Has four wins at this track, the last of which came from three pounds lower in March. Lightly raced since with two fair efforts over nine furlongs. It looks as if connections are exploring if a step-up in trip might lead to further progress.
