When I run through the form of each horse and I assess a race with my various ratings for different aspects of form, I never look at the forecast first, I then check to see if my selection is good value for money, I have in my head a few dangers to my selection in this, however, one of them certainly was not the short priced favourite Spaceman, Yes, he won with something in hand last time out, all bar the runner up were poor class 6 performers, the runner up is a average class six horse, Spaceman will need to have improved considerably if he is to win this class 4 race with several true class 4 performers in the race. At 6/1 Storm Free is a great price, and as there is more than one danger in the race I have gone Each-Way.

Has gained all seven career wins on all-weather surfaces, including one over today's course and distance. Although he runs off his last winning mark, his rider's seven-pound allowance will definitely come in handy. I'm pleasantly surprised by the gelding's double-figure odds, bearing in mind his stable's runners are going well.

Ash Wednesday is worth a second look in the 5.00 at Southwell. A previous course winner, he has shown solid all-weather form and returns to a track that clearly suits his running style. If he can build on his recent efforts and gets a good pace to aim at, he's capable of finishing strongly and going close at a decent price.

Has been running well of late and just run out of it latest. Should be happier over this shorter trip, and with the yard going well is great value to be in the frame here.

The unexposed Lucky Luna is making her handicap debut. Spaceman and Ash Wednesday are credible alternatives. However her win at Salisbury in early June suggest that more progress is likely and she has to be considered for the frame.

There's a couple of other horses I like in here but at current odds I just cant ignore this one. True, he has shown little on three turf starts this year. However, this course and distance winner is a much better horse on the all-weather and is very well handicapped in relation to his best form. Definitely a risky one but capable over this course and distance from this mark.
