Luke morris has a good record at newcastle if he holds back early and makes the right moves on the outside i think he can get this

The 5yo has run well in his last two starts. He was runner-up last time out and was a little short of room. The winner, who was then raised 7 lb, had got the first run that day. A decent yardstick was back in third. He posted four high RPR ratings last spring. A return to that level of form would make him a big player off his new low mark.

The horse's new trainer has been improving horses brought in from other stables recently, and hopefully this is another. The trainer has booked one of the best 5 lb claiming jockeys around, which is perhaps a clue that he has the horse ready to run a big race. The horse itself has a good record at the course, and he's only 2 lb higher than his last winning mark over C&D when previously ridden. Hopefully Warren Fentiman's claim here will see him go close.

Has shown good form over 7 furlongs at Wolverhampton, so should be OK on the Tapeta surface here. The 5 lbs claimed will come in handy today and he looks a good each-way alternative to the short-priced favourite.

Yaaser is a gelding who has shown he can be competitive at Newcastle on the All-Weather, including a run over today’s trip where he travelled well into the race and stayed on to finish close up within two lengths. This confirms the surface and distance suit him. He has previously run well off today’s mark or lower, and has form that suggests a solid pace helps him settle and finish strongly. With conditions likely to suit and a race shape that should allow him to be produced late, he looks capable of getting involved at a fair price.

Won over course and distance on the 1st of November and runner-up when sent off favourite on the 24th of that month having finished third over a mile in between those two races. Had three further races in December getting progressively worse in each but its possible the effects of 6 races in two months took its toll. Comes here following a 39 day absence and could show a return to form racing fresh.
