Qazaq started his racing career, winning his first three races on all-weather tracks when trained by Roger Varian and earning a mark of 92. He has not won since and has dropped to a new low of 64, but came close over course and distance in April when only beaten a head off 66 when also drawn in stall 1. Overdue a win for Ian Jardine.

Won at Newcastle in December. Handicap mark is dropping to a level where he can strike again. He is a triple course-and-distance winner. Should go close.

Trainer and jockey have a good record here individually over this trip, and I think Viviana has run encouragingly in the first two of her three qualification runs. In those, the intimation was that a step up in trip would suit, which is also endorsed by her breeding. She is well drawn to go forward and lead without Jason overusing her this time, which he did at Wetherby, albeit forced somewhat by the draw. We don't want it getting too soft, in my view, but I think she is worth a small go.

Already written about another in this event, but I feel Carolyn's Magnus deserves an each-way mention. The welter burden of ten stone two pounds is a worry, though.

This is a very ordinary-looking handicap, and it may offer a chance for one of the three-year-olds to take advantage of the weight-for-age allowance. Supreme Clarets ran quite well at Wetherby a couple of runs back, and a repeat of that might be enough to take this. He isn't particularly well drawn on the outside, but Warren Fentiman is one of the best claimers around and can plot a path to victory.

Returning to his absolute favorite playground on a sound summer surface that plays right to his high-tempo cruising speed, he holds massive back-class over this field and looks like a superb each-way selection at an appealing 16/1 price tag.
