Moyganny Phil is the market favorite and top pick for his potential for improvement as he makes his handicap debut. He is projected to benefit from a slow pace, and his tactical positioning in his races at Southwell suggests he can adapt to a relatively uneven race, allowing him to utilize his finishing speed. He is a Class 5 (OR 100), and this is his first handicap start after competing in Class 4 Maiden Hurdles??'technically a slight step down. Sean Bowen (25% win rate at this racetrack) is aboard for Olly Murphy (18% overall win rate). This is one of the strongest combinations of the day.

Ran his best race over hurdles last time at Southwell. He only beat a couple of other runners but didn’t get a hard ride. He now moves into handicaps from what might turn out to be a lenient mark. Worth a second look.

Travelled really well in the qualifying runs and certainly wasn’t knocked about. Most of her relations are 100+, like to think she could be too. Therefore, an opening mark of 78 could prove lenient.

Kally Des Bruyeres has run well previously at Huntingdon and has had wind surgery since his latest run. He should get at least a place in this eight-horse handicap hurdle.

More than 14 months since last win, but was a runner-up at Sedgefield last time. Has fallen to a nice mark and this is a weak race.

Dotties Star has had just six hurdle starts, winning one (2m, soft, Plumpton just over a year ago). He did not get the same conditions in the next four starts. Last time he was back at 2m on soft (34 days ago) after a two-month break. He ran a close 4th that day; if held closer he would have had a chance of winning. Today's longer home straight should suit him well (he ran here well once on his racecourse debut). He acts on good to soft but does not look as though he has stamina beyond 2m, and a sharp track like today's should suit him. He is on a career-low mark and the yard should be able to get the best from him today, which could be enough.

Hopefully that manky month is well behind me now, although I finished on a high! A bit of a stab here for last year's winning trainer in Ramaah. Both jockey and trainer are doing well, so it gets my EW vote nap today. Bits of overnight cash has arrived.
