The field was quite strung out behind the front two, and he now might start to show his true potential.

I like the chances of Draupnir a lot here. His last race was at Hamilton where he went off favourite but it didn’t all go to plan at the start when he was very slowly away. Hamilton suits front runners, and although Draupnir made up 20 lengths and was running on at the line, he was never going to get in front. With a good start, he looks to have a massive chance.

Progressive individual last season who remained in good form in higher grade after picking up victories here and at Ayr. Well beaten over course and distance on reappearance but worth another chance this afternoon in the expectation that he will take a step forward from that.

Qitaal, this horse only ran 10 days ago but never got much of a run that day, when stuck behind a wall of horse's and having to switch a little bit to get a run, and ran on well in the end to finish an unlucky 2nd. He is drawn well here at Hamilton in stall 4 and this horse can be ridden however tbh. There is a bit of pace on, so I hope Rowan Scott just slots him in midfield, to get a position early on. I think this horse should be shorter than 13/2 and should be in the mix up, when coming to the business end of the race.

One of my more riskier propositions this one, but TEE AITCH AYE returns to the scene of his last win, which was over this trip in September. He's a pound lighter now and hasn't been tried within the first two outings of this season. Bound to respond at some point, and I guess if it happens anywhere, it'll be here. Holds up sort of, but will have the early pace of Highland Olly to aim at.

61235 are Penelope's Sisters' course figures. After a decent campaign last season, she's not set the world alight in two runs thus far. But hopefully, returning to Hamilton and the handicapper easing her a further two pounds might see her improve on recent showings. SL had her 16/1 on their tissue price. I envisaged getting 4 points bigger, so I feel we are getting some value, especially as a few are out of form and running over the wrong trip. The stable, also represented by the favourite stable, have been amongst the winners recently. Lauren Young is reunited with her; she's won on her before.
