5:12 Chester Tips

Newtown Duke was too free on his seasonal debut here a month ago. That race was noteworthy for the poor judgment of most of the jockeys, allowing the winner a very easy lead which they were never able to close. Ian Williams is a master of getting his horses ready for targeted races at Chester, and I am fairly sure this has been the early target for Newtown Duke.

Has been in good form since moving up to longer trips, with 2 wins and 2 second-place finishes from the last 4 starts. Should go well for the yard that won this last year. Likely to be involved.

There or thereabouts in recent runs. Golspie probably wins again soon and looks capable from a workable mark. A step up in trip will suit too, and he could be able to handle this opposition.

Goes on any ground and is shaped as if needing his reappearance run. Worth remembering he won second time up last year and is worth an each-way bet.
