Sujet looks capable of stepping forward from his seasonal return and could be well treated off his current mark. His first run for the Declan Carroll yard came at Newmarket Racecourse in a Class 3 over 7f, where he finished 7th, beaten 6½ lengths. He traveled prominently for a long way before fading late, and it’s possible he was on the wrong side of the track, with the near-side runners finishing stronger. That effort should bring him on fitness-wise. He’s now dropped 2 lb to 87, which starts to look appealing based on his earlier form. As a 3yo, he won over 1m1f on good ground, beating Mississippi River (now rated 100), and showed further promise in strong races as a 2yo, including efforts behind horses now rated well into the 100s. Those pieces of form suggest he has more ability than his current mark indicates. Drawn in stall 7 at Chester Racecourse, he’ll need to break well and secure a handy position, which is key around this track. If he does so and builds on his comeback run, Sujet could be a lively contender.

I was surprised to see Bell Shot so high in the betting. Untested at Chester but his prominent running style and low draw (stall 2) should suit. Poor reappearance after a short break last time when trailing home last of 9 and the cheekpieces are reapplied having helped him win 3 times last summer. A mark of 85 would be a career high but only 1lb above his win on the AW in January, which was also the only time Harry Davies has ridden him before. They're reunited here with the yard in good form and conditions to suit.

Ive tipped Silky Wilkie many times in his career and im not done with him yet. Hes had a decent AW campaign starting back this year and i find he needs a good few runs to get going in the season so hes got the benefit of it tomorrow. Hes ran in some big class 2 and class 1 races over the years and was rated as high as 110. With what form hes shown on AW this year and with Clifford Lee who knows him well back in the saddle hes the type to outrun his odds on the day, trainer Karl Burke has hit decent form too going in to this so Silky Wilkie fits the bill as a great outsider.
