2:10 Chester Tips

The 3yo was a good 2L maiden winner on his return during April. That form has been boosted. He was a good 3rd of 10 in a handicap five weeks ago. He may not have had the best track position and was not helped by being held up at the rear. Weighted to go well. If he starts quickly from stall 6 at this tricky Chester track, he can be a big player.

Masked Warrior showed improved form last time in first-time cheekpieces at Kempton, breaking well and making virtually all of the running and staying on strongly. He had already qualified for a handicap mark but still took in a novice on the AW and, having got his head in front, now makes his handicap debut. He has been raised 8 lb for that win but still looks on a winnable mark. Judged on his second run on soft ground at Nottingham as a 2-y-o, he should be fine on the ground and at this slightly longer trip than last time. The stable have a good record at the track (10-43 in the past five seasons) and Harry Davies has a decent record for the yard, with 4-12 in the past five seasons. He is fairly well drawn in 3 and, while he may face competition for the lead, if he gets on the front end he can follow up and looks a solid each-way bet.

This one gradually improved over 5 and 6f winning on 5th time of asking. He has since won 2 and was 2nd last time from his last 3 races up to 7f and goes up another 2lb to a high of 87 and could get back on track over 1/2f further.

A 3-year-old Irish horse. He won over 7 furlongs at Kempton (all-weather surface) in February, and was last seen finishing a close 2nd of 9 over 8 furlongs at Newmarket in May on good to firm ground. Well drawn in stall 2 here, with trainer Andrew Balding in good form.

Penny Time has done nothing wrong in a short career so far and is expected to go close here. The selection has won at this trip on the all-weather and was runner-up at Southwell last time.

One win and two places from just three career starts. Did well to finish third at Hamilton despite missing the break last time out. Should be better for that run and looks a solid selection for each-way purposes at least, particularly if getting a better start today.

The only course winner in the field and has the plum number 1 stall to possibly lead the field from the front.

Jungle Ruler has not quite lasted home in his last three runs, but I think Chester, with its stop/start due to the sharp corners, will help him out. It's an open race, and I have tipped the two outsiders. I can only do one win and one each-way.
