Can You Call was a very decent third in a similar race here last time out. There's every chance he can progress again and go even closer. In the race before that he was stone last and beaten 33 lengths. He is 2 lb higher now (and a pound out of the handicap), but I like the jockey switch to Ben Jones. Now that the horse has taken a step in the right direction, he could well build on that effort last time out. He's a 10-year-old in this veterans' race, and that's usually a positive too.

Whistleinthedark is not at the level that saw him win four chases in a row three seasons ago, but he has won twice this season. Despite going back up twelve pounds to a mark of 132, he could be good enough to go close in this veterans' handicap chase.
