Comes into this without a recent run. To be fair, he's proven he can go well fresh in the past (won on reappearance a couple of years back). So lack of run shouldn't be an issue. He ran a cracker in this race last term off a 6 lbs lower mark, finishing a close 2nd behind stablemate Senior Chief. Beaten just over 1L. He was unlucky there, I felt. He was short of room when trying to mount a challenge. When he eventually found clear daylight, he ran on strongly into 2nd. Just couldn't match the finishing speed of the winner. He did pull 11L clear of the horse in 3rd, however. He went on to finish 5th in the Ultima at the festival off this exact same mark. Beaten 16L albeit. He didn't jump with his usual fluency on that occasion. Made a costly error at the 8th fence. Was always playing catch up after that. He did well to run on into 5th, in my opinion. On the basis of the Ultima run and solid run in this race last term, a mark of 132 doesn't look too harsh.

He’s coming off a break but he won a useful novice chase on his return last year by 15L over 3m at this track, followed by a Listed win at this track the following month. Only beaten 2L in a Grade 1 during Dec. In Feb he was 2nd of 13 in a £85K Grade 3 handicap chase. He sets a good standard and is still on a decent mark.
