Barracuda Championship Tips

2024 runner-up at this tournament. Whaley is coming off a T4 finish at the ISCO Championship and is rightfully among the favorites here.

Cameron Champ is 266 on the OWG Rankings list. Four top 30 finishes in his last four tournaments. Three-time PGA tournament winner who now seems back from injury problems.

Emiliano Grillo could take advantage of all the big boys being away at the Open Championship. He finished second in the John Deere Classic two weeks ago.

Max Homa's last tournament was two weeks ago at the John Deere Classic, where he managed to finish in 5th place, his best performance this year.

Patrick Fishburn was 3rd at Barracuda last season. He was in contention last week at ISCO. One of the contenders this week, and odds are decent.

Pierceson Coody has been performing relatively well in the Korn Ferry Tour, finishing in 4th last week in the Ascendant. His other credible performances this year have seen him finish in 2nd in the BMW Charity Pro Am and Astara Golf Championship, and 3rd in the Wichita Open.

Rico Hoey is usually among the leaders in B-level PGA events. He finished 8th at the Barracuda Championship in 2024. He can definitely improve that result and win if he shows up in his best shape.

Kevin Roy shows good form. T3, T8, T18 before missing the cut at ISCO Championship. He is close to getting his first win, and there won't be a better tournament to achieve that.

Mark Hubbard's best performance this year came at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, where he finished in 5th place. He was 4th in this competition last year.

Patrick Rogers, who has been performing well in the LIV this year, looks like a big name here with many playing in the Open this weekend.

Andrew Putnam best performance this season came at the RBC Canadian Open where he finished in 6th place. He finished in 2nd place in this competition in 2021.

For me, Eckroat, I think, is a cracking bet here. He had lost his form with 6 missed cuts in 9 events a few months back, but he has definitely found something, making 7 cuts in a row and blasting out leading events with very low first rounds, such as the Travelers Championship with a 62 and his last event at the John Deere Classic with a 63, telling you how close he is to finding something. He finished 11th there. We must not forget he was twice a winner in 2024 at the Cognizant and the World Wide Technology. Both were decent fields, especially the Cognizant, so he knows how to get the job done. He's coming into form perfectly for this event as he's no stranger to going low. At 40-1, he's the bet of the weekend in any golf event for me.

Ryo Hisatsune has 4th, 5th, 6th, and 10th places on PGA Tour this season, but no wins. He did in harder tournaments than Barracuda Championship.

Hayden Springer will be hoping to improve on his missed cut last year at this competition. He was 14th last time out at the ISCO Championship. His best performance this year came at the Farmers Insurance Open where he finished in 6th place.

Isaiah Salinda was good in some spots on PGA Tour this year. He was 3rd at Mexico Open in comparable field, also was 11th at Houston Open. Barracuda is a chance for players like him to win PGA title.

Kris Ventura finished just 45th at ISCO last week. But he was in the leading group after three rounds, just had a terrible Sunday. The Norwegian player has the level to win a tournament like this if he keeps his focus for all rounds.

Ricky Castillo makes his debut in this competition, his best performance this year came at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson where he finished in 5th place. His driving ability should count for something here.

Cam Davis stands out by name at the Barracuda Championship this year. So, in my opinion, he is worth taking a risk on, even in the bad form that he currently is. He is better than the favorites even, and the odds are very good.

Carson Young plays well in these types of events from time to time. He was 5th at the John Deere Classic and 10th at the Puerto Rico Open. I will play him at such big odds.

Ben Kohles' form has been trending in the right direction with his last three cuts made and progressively better finishes of T78, T44, and then last time out a T8 finish at the ISCO. He can build on that momentum further here in what is a weak field event, and he looks generously priced to do so.

Jackson Suber had a T6 finish at the Rocket Classic, in a harder tournament where better players competed. Value pick for Barracuda.

David Lipsky was close to winning the John Deere Classic two weeks ago. T3 finish, 1 stroke behind the winner. He wasn't bad at the ISCO Championship. I think the odds do not show the player's level, and there is plenty of value on Lipsky here.

Martin Laird has shot 11 of his last 16 rounds in the 60s, and a few more of the others were rounds of 70. So his recent form is great, and he went close to a Korn Ferry Tour win recently too. He looks the ideal profile to go out and grab this event by the neck here in a low-scoring event.

Cristobal Del Solar won on the Korn Ferry Tour last year and has 5 career wins. He doesn't have much to show this year, but against the weaker opponents that Barracuda presents, he might have a good week. He made the cut in the last 4 tournaments he played.
