Newcastle have yet to fully live up to expectations under manager Eddie Howe since he took charge in November 2021. They finished below Liverpool in last season's Premiership table. Liverpool's away form towards the end of last season was not good. Their last seven away fixtures saw them win one and lose six. Since then they have appointed the previous Bournemouth manager, Andoni Iraola, as their head coach. It may take a while for the new man in charge to get the team playing as he wants. With the stability of Eddie Howe's tenure at Newcastle, take the home side to start with a win.

Newcastle are notoriously known for being hard to beat at home. Liverpool have scraped victories at St James' Park in recent seasons but haven't looked good doing so. Newcastle have lost some key players, but I still think they will give Liverpool a run for their money. I feel this will be a tight match with very little separating the two clubs, and when it's all said and done, this fixture will end in a draw.
