QPR finished with a lot of promise towards the end of last season and were close to the playoffs. They have bought some good players and have had a good pre-season. EW only

Fulham, West Brom and QPR are my early picks for promotion. Fulham as Champions as West Brom are offloading a few players. West Brom being the YOYO club go up in 2nd and QPR in Play Offs as they finished the season very well last season. Looking early at other teams, i'm not seeing much. Swansea looked dreadful in the play off final and looked like they should've been fighting to stay in the championship not go up to the prem. Bournemouth are another team who looked so bad, their defence is woeful and have a few players who are very questionable. Barnsley, I was quite impressed with Barnsley last season as they looked one of the better teams, I just get the feel that they missed their chance and last season was their season but they flopped their chance. I still expect them to do well this season as I rate some of their players and Ismael. Reading are an odd team, never really been impressed by them but even when they're not the best team somehow find a way up there, a very forgettable team in the championship though so I imagine mid table for them next season.

Bournemouth have all the makings of a title-winning side in this division, and Scott Parker (former manager of newly-relegated promotion rivals Fulham) wouldn't have come on board this season if he believed otherwise. Blessed with a strong mix of young talent and experience, The Cherries have one the best overall squads in The Championship as it stands, and with a couple of quality signings to supplement that, they can easily compete at the top end of the table this campaign with the likes of Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield Utd, who all featured in the Premier League last season. New recruit Parker endured a steep learning curve in the PL last season when his side finished 11 points adrift of safety, but showed promising signs during his debut season as a manager, which should encourage supporters that his philosophy can translate successfully in the upcoming season at this level. Obvious competition from aforementioned clubs will be a constant threat to promotion chances for Bournemouth but a second successive season in The Championship will serve for better insight on what's required here, which could be the difference against other newly-appointed managers featuring in the promotion race this season.

Stoke are currently 16-1 (bet365) . Usually one of the promoted sides has a manager in situ for at least one season, last season, Norwich (admittedly with parachute payments, members of a PL squad) and Brentford did so. Michael O'Neill's side had a thrilling opening day win against Reading, admittedly injury-hit. If they are successful in loaning Liam Delap, they could have four strikers with the anticipated return of Tyrese Campbell in September. O'Neill appears a competent manager able to organize a side as befits a former national team manager. Whilst Stoke have down-sized, they have recruited well in turn, i.e. losing Collins but bringing in Wilmot. O'Neill has reshaped the side, stalwarts have left but there is still experience (Allen, Chester, Fletcher) as well as creativity from Vrancic. They boast a squad capable of making the play-offs, (7/4, odds), whether they could go on to make the top 2 and even win the division is the call, but most of the favoured shorter-priced sides have installed new managers and it may take time for their squads to familiarize themselves with a new style of play.
