Formerly trained by William Haggas, he showed high-class handicap potential as a three-year-old (including a fine 3rd in a Class 2 handicap at Goodwood off an 85 mark). However, since switching to Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood in June, he has struggled to replicate that level of form. He showed a brief spark when 6th at Redcar (beaten 3¼ lengths at 50/1) in June, but he failed to build on that in two subsequent handicap starts on the all-weather at Newcastle - most recently finishing 8th of 14 (beaten 9¼ lengths) on July 25. While his rating is slowly coming down to a workable level, he still has to concede weight to several in-form rivals. Stepping back up to 1m 2f today after running over 1m in his last three starts. He handled 1m 2f when placed last autumn at Doncaster, so the extra distance could potentially suit, but his enthusiasm has to be rekindled.

Loves it here, having won three times over this track already. A victory today would mark her fourth course success. While she hasn't been in top gear for most of this season, she showed clear signs of a revival when finishing a close 3rd over course and distance two weeks ago. The handicapping conditions look ideal today. She has dropped another 1 lb, down to an Official Rating of 59, and trainer Jim Goldie has booked 5 lb-claiming apprentice Shay Farmer to take off valuable weight.

Maiden who, after starting his career in higher grades for George Boughey, has steadily slid down the weights since moving to Jim Goldie's yard. On his most recent outing over this course and distance (July 20), he wasn't beaten far, finishing 5th of 10 behind Phantom Shadow on good to firm ground. He travelled reasonably well into the race, suggesting this mark is workable if he puts it all together. His rating continues to drop (he was competing off 70-72 late last year/early this season), giving him plenty of handicapping room based on his old back-class.

Arrives in peak form, having won his last three consecutive starts on the Flat. His most recent victory was an impressive, resolute win in the competitive 20-runner Northumberland Vase at Newcastle (2m) in late June. Proven stamina over two miles is a massive asset here. While his recent win came on Tapeta, he has winning form on all-weather surfaces and dual-purpose stamina from his time over hurdles. Trained by dual-purpose master Alan King and ridden by 3 lb-claiming apprentice Luke Catton. Catton's 3 lb claim helps soften his top-weight burden of 10 st 4 lb off his new mark of 87. Comes into this race fresh off a six-week break following his Newcastle success, giving him ample rest to continue his progression.

Arrives here off a decent performance over this exact course and distance (July 27), where he sported cheekpieces for the first time and powered away to win a Class 4 novice by 4¼ lengths with plenty in hand. Trainer Richard Hughes retains the cheekpieces that brought about that decisive step forward, and three-time Champion jockey Oisin Murphy stays in the saddle. Murphy has a strong partnership with the gelding, having ridden him in four of his five career starts. Making his handicap debut off an initial Official Rating of 83. While he carries top weight (9st 10lb) in a five-runner field, his speed figures and visual impression last fortnight suggest he could be ahead of the handicapper.

Earned his place in this final with an explosive performance over course and distance back in June, winning a qualifier here in emphatic, runaway fashion. He arrives fresh off a very respectable effort in the ultra-competitive Stewards' Cup at Goodwood, showing he can easily handle top-tier handicap company. Dropping back to this contest represents a manageable assignment relative to that hot grade.

Finished an excellent 2nd in this exact race last year. Returning to Ballinrobe over this long staying distance of 3m 2f plays directly to her core stamina strengths. She is running off a mark 5 lb lower than in last year's renewal, making her exceptionally well treated by the handicapper. Furthermore, trainer Norman Lee has booked Alan O'Sullivan, whose 5 lb claim takes off additional valuable weight. She showed a clear return to form on her most recent outing at Wexford on July 23rd (2m 4f), staying on strongly into 3rd of 14 runners. The step back up to 3m 2f today is a major positive based on that finishing effort.

She comes into tonight's contest in excellent heart following a very narrow 2nd-place finish over 7f at Lingfield just nine days ago. She was arguably unlucky not to win there and remains on a very workable handicap mark of 55. Campaigned over 7f in her recent efforts (including a win two starts ago), she steps up to 1 mile tonight. Her late-closing style suggests that the extra furlong around Windsor will play directly to her stamina strengths.
