Cathedral gets the three-year-olds allowance in this and so gets a ton of weight from the others. It was an 800,000 euro purchase as a two-year-old, trained by the excellent Beckett. It is a horse with a first-rate chance but has not been out for over 200 days, and it is quite early to be competing against the older horses in this. Plus, has it trained on? I prefer the chance of the selection who has not enjoyed the best of fortune this season so far but ran Porta Fortuna to a 3 1/2 length second in the Group One Falmouth last year. That said, it was not a great race, and its races this season here and in America have not worked out well form-wise, but it should be fit at least. While you could strongly back Cathedral, I prefer the proven claims of Jabaara. The Varian stable appears in good form as a whole, and it is an interesting race. I do think that if Cathedral wins, it is probably a very good horse indeed.
