- The four-time NBA MVP averaged 23.5 points, 10 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game during this year's playoffs.
- The basketball legend has logged more playoff minutes than any player in league history.
- His son, Bronny, will play for USC in Los Angeles next season.
The Lakers were swept out of the NBA playoffs by the West's top seed last night. Denver survived a monstrous first half from LeBron (31 points in 24 minutes), and sent both the Lakers and the modern-day G.O.A.T. to the golf course early this offseason. Instead of Denver finally receiving their just due, the entire media narrative has centered on LeBron James and his future. Yes, Denver has made the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history, but LeBron may be considering retirement! How serious is LeBron? Well in the eyes' of sportsbooks, it's possible for LBJ to step away from the game.
LeBron James Retirement Odds
Will LeBron Retire Before The Start Of '23-'24 Season | Moneyline | Probability |
---|---|---|
Yes | +300 | 25% |
No | -400 | 80% |
Interestingly, sportsbooks had placed his odds of retiring back in January at +225, so despite his recent comments, oddsmakers still believe that he will return next season. His son Bronny will be enrolled at USC next fall, and it's conceivable that he could take a year off to enjoy watching his son play and then opt to return for the '24-'25 season at age 40. At this point, given the Lakers' cap space and draft assets, it would be surprising to see LBJ walk away with a promising future on tap for the Lake Show.
