The results were a little more varied when it came to movies, with the post-apocalyptic thriller Bird Box proving to be the most popular (in fact, it was the most watched Netflix movie of all time in its opening week).
This was followed by The Irishman and Roma, which were both nominated for multiple awards, the recent heist movie Triple Frontier featuring Ben Affleck and Oscar Isaac and the live-action anime adaption Death Note.
Another interesting result was that the documentary film World on Fire was the most popular result in Hong Kong, after the movie’s depiction of Ukraine’s political protests struck a chord with the country’s own anti-government protestors.
