Best UK Casino Venues (Land Based for Poker, Table Games and Slots)

With the British gambling industry having a total gross yield of £4bn between April and September 2020, there is no doubt that the placing of wagers is rather big business and a portion of this is made up via the physical land based casino sector.

A portion that during the same period equated to £67m and although that might be small fry compared to the online casino, bingo, and lottery, it is still a considerable contribution towards the overall figures.

While due to nearly £70m being wagered in just a six-month period, it means there is certainly an appetite for casino games, and with more than 100 physical casino venues being situated across the country, there is plenty of choices when it comes to playing the poker table 

It is not just poker and card games that is an option when you walk through the casino doors and with table games and slot games also being made available, the entertainment factor is always going to be rather high.

This means it is time to shine a light on where the entertainment truly is and to achieve this. We have compiled a database of over 100 British-based casinos, and we are now going to rank them on the casino games that they offer. 

POKER FACE

Genting Club in reading Berkshire

First up, we are going to look at the number of poker tables that are available per casino and when looking at the top 10, here are our findings (results based on where data is publicly on offer).

Should you be a poker fan, then you may want to book a trip to Reading and the Genting Club in particular. With 90 tables on offer, there will certainly be a seat made available and this figure, is double the second place offering in Nottingham.

Because for those who fancy some all-night competitive poker action, the Dusk Till Dawn Poker and Casino in Nottingham will be your port of call and this is one of two top 10 entries that can be found in the home of Robin Hood and Sherwood Forest.

Although the second entry in the top 10 is only found in joint-ninth and with both Nottingham’s Alea Casino and the Grosvenor G Casino in Coventry having 12 poker tables on offer respectively, they are found at the bottom of the leading pack. 

We can't be sure if Robin Hood ever played Poker in Nottingham, but if he did......

TABLE GAMES

Next up, we move to table games. A broad term that includes the likes of baccarat, blackjack, and roulette and once again, we are going to look at the top 10 casinos (results based on where data is publicly on offer)

This time it is Sheffield’s Grosvenor G Casino that comes out on top and with as many as 60 different table games on offer, it has managed to pip a trio of London-based casinos to the top of these standings.

While the trio of capital casinos is certainly not short of options either and with The Casino at The Empire offering 50, the Hippodrome Casino offering 45, and Aspers Casino offering 40, a night out in London may soon have to be scheduled.

Then again, there is not a great deal less entertainment in the likes of Coventry, Luton, or Cardiff and with there being 32, 30 and 25 table games on offer, the Grosvenor brand certainly has identified table games as a way to make some of their annual profits.

SLOTS OF FUN

Next up, we are going to look at the availability and quantity of slot machines and once again, we are going to serve up a top 10 (results based on where data is publicly on offer).

After being pipped to the top of the standings in the previous table, it is London who wins out this time and it does so by virtue of the Aspers Casino offering no fewer than 150 slot machines within its premises.

Fourth in the table games list, top of these standings and with it also featuring in the top 10 of the poker list, it might be the most complete casino of them all. While special mentions must also go to their pair of crosstown rivals.

With the Casino at The Empire having 127 slot machines within its walls and the Hippodrome Casino operating 123, it is fair to say that both they and the Aspers Casino are going to be rather lively places at the weekend.

Then again, you could say the same in Liverpool and with the Genting Club Queen Square offering 100 slot machines to prospective punters, you will not be short of options if you fancy a casino trip to Merseyside.

Once again, the Grosvenor brand of casinos are well represented and with the Westgate, Leeds site offering 80 slot machines, it just pips the branches in Broadstairs and Luton which are offering 75 respectively. Not to forget Leicester and Bournemouth with 73 and 65 each themselves.  

THE FINAL TOTAL

Now that we know the rankings for each of the three categories, it probably makes sense to fuse it all together and in doing so, we can go some way to highlighting the best casinos in the UK.

Due to some data gaps, we can call this the absolute final league table. However, it should give you a large indication, as to where the busiest casinos are situated. With that in mind, here is our top 10.

A list that is won by the Aspers Casino and with a combination of 205 (Poker Tables + Table Games + Slots), it is one of four London venues that finds itself in the top 10. While familiar venues such as The Casino at the Empire and the Hippodrome Casino find themselves second and third respectively.

With The Casino at the Empire having a combination of 182 and the Hippodrome Casino 168, there are plenty of elements to keep you entertained and more importantly, consistently placing your bets throughout the evening.

Not to overlook the Genting Club Reading either and although the Berkshire venue had 90 poker tables on offer, it was slightly let down by the number of table games and slot machines when compared to the capital and had to make do with a combination of 168.

This means fifth in the charts goes to the Genting Club Queen Square in Liverpool, with a combination of 128 and if the poker table data was publicly available, it may have even earned itself a finish in the top four.

Thankfully the remaining five casinos all have a full set of data available, and this means the Grosvenor G Casino Luton earned sixth place by virtue of a total combination of 125 – 26 more than its Westgate, Leeds stablemate. 

With the Grosvenor Casino Leeds, Westgate having a combination of 99, it meant that seventh place was hotly contested and with no more than a combination of five separating they and the Grosvenor G Casino Thanet in tenth, the latter may want to add some more poker tables to their layout.
