Gold Blitz Extreme is played on a grid with 6 reels and 4 rows, and there are 4,096 paylines.  Winning combinations are formed when you land 2 or more for the highest-value character symbols. Or 3 or more matches for the standard symbols. These symbols need to land from left to right, beginning from the leftmost reel. 

Bets for this game start at 20p and go up to £50. You can use the plus and minus buttons to adjust your bet amount. Non-UK players can utilise the Autoplay section.

The RTP rate is 96%, which is exactly the online average. The volatility rating is very high, and there is a max win of 5,500 x the bet.

Gold Blitz Extreme was released in 2023 but it has a very retro look and looks much older. It’s an energetic slot with plenty going on during gameplay. In the base game background are plenty of purple, pink and blue hues with electricity static crackling and bright lights giving the game a dramatic feel. During the bonus games there are vivid red and bright yellow backgrounds while you spin.

The soundtrack to the experience is rock music with plenty of guitar riffs, which cranks up the drama element. The sound effects are traditional with a futuristic element added.

The gold grid ties up the gold theme, and there is plenty of gold-related imagery on the reels (which you can see in the screenshot above).

Rising Rewards Jackpot feature

When a Cash symbol with a Collect symbol lands in the base game, a token is saved. Each time tokens are saved, at least 1 jackpot is increased up to 1 x bet each time as follows: 

• 1 token = 1 jackpot increased per spin
• 2-5 tokens saved = 1 - 2 jackpots increased per spin
• 6-15 tokens = 2-3 jackpots increased per spin
• 16 - 24 tokens saved = 3 - 4 jackpots increased per spin
  
  

Saving these tokens means a greater chance of triggering the Rising Rewards Jackpot feature. During this feature, cash prizes and fixed jackpots can be won. In the feature, at least 1 jackpot will be won. The prizes are as follows:

Rising Rewards Bonus Multiplier feature

Keep your eyes peeled for the Bonus Multiplier Meter in the top left-hand corner on desktop or the top/middle position on a mobile device. With the ability to increase in the base game, the Bonus Multiplier applies to every win during the free spins and Gold Blitz features.

The Bonus Multiplier increases by 0.5 x bet when 2 Bonus Scatters land in the base game on all reels if the Bonus Choice is not triggered too (this feature will be explained in the hext feature section).  During the base game, the maximum Bonus Multiplier can rise to 5x. It also resets back to 1x after the free spins or Gold Blitz features finish. It's worth noting that it can randomly increase by 0.5x or 1x when you return to the base game.

Bonus Choice feature

If you land 3 or more Bonus Scatter symbols, you will trigger the Bonus Choice. Here you choose between free spins or spins in Gold Blitz. The Scatters you land dictate the award, which goes as follows:

During the Free Spins feature, a 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier is randomly applied to every Wild that forms part of a win. The Bonus Multiplier multiplies the total win of every free spin. Also, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 scatters will reward you with 5, 8, 12, 20 or 30 free spins respectively. Some of the higher-value character symbols (lucky horseshoe, golden bell, gold coins and gold bullion) don’t appear during the free spins round.

During the Gold Blitz feature, the Collect Retrigger and Retrigger symbols show on reel 6, here is what they do:

• Collect Retrigger: awards you  all cash symbols that land + awards 1 extra Gold Blitz spin

• Retrigger: Awards you 1 extra Gold Blitz spin

During a Gold Blitz spin the Collect symbol is guaranteed to land on reel 1. Only Collect, Collect Retrigger, Retrigger and Cash symbols will appear during this feature.  All of the other positions are left blank. Worth noting is the fact that, extreme 100 x bet Cash symbols can appear during the feature.

During this feature, a winning outcome is guaranteed on each spin,.Collect and Collect Retriggers symbol payouts will appear combined together in the total payout. Plus the Bonus Multiplier applies to the total win of each spin too. So there are lots to watch out for!

Collect feature

When a Collect symbol and a Cash symbol land at the same time, you trigger the Collect feature. Here, all Cash symbols appear on all reels with the Collect symbol appearing on reels 1 and 6. Every Collect symbol collects all of the Cash symbols which have landed.

Respin feature

When a Collect symbol lands on reels 1 and 6 without any Cash symbols appearing, the Respin feature is triggered. You are awarded with 1 respin with reels 1 and 6 locking (with the Collect symbols in position). Reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 respin with Cash symbols and blanks appearing. You are guaranteed to land at least 1 Cash symbol during this round which results in a win.

Bonus Buy 

This feature applies to non-UK players only and it gives you access to the Bonus Choice feature with either 3, 4, 5 or 6 Bonus Scatters.  Below are the costs:

• Bonus Choice with 3 Bonus Scatters = 30 x the bet

I struggled to explain the theme for this review as it looks retro but has a futuristic vibe at the same time, which was at odds with me. The rock music helped to create a dramatic environment when playing. The volatility for Gold Blitz Extreme is very high, which means infrequent wins, so I was surprised to see a 5,500 x the bet max win, which is pretty low. However, there are plenty of features to keep you entertained. There was a lot of detail to the bonus features which I had to read a few times to understand but they're totally worth it. The bonus games are where this game shines, as there are loads of them, so there is something for everyone. The tried and tested Collect symbols awarding the Cash symbols was a big tick for me. And saving the tokens was a standout feature, as you could see the jackpots grow.
