Theme – Fighting

Play Experience & First Impressions
The use of two contrasting colours to represent teams reminded me of Hacksaw's last game Beam Boys which was split with orange and blue colours to represent the different teams/volatility ratings. Whereas in Fist of Destruction, the colours used are red and blue. This design makes it easier to follow and visually, it looks superb on the screen. The robotic parts on the fighter's bodies also reminded me of the robotic cats in Beam Boys. The Throwdown! Bonus rounds were exciting and ran at an exhilarating pace; they were pretty simple to understand once I was familiar with the game info. I didn't gain Victory Points when testing the games, though; they seemed difficult to win.
My favourite feature of Fist of Destruction was the Fist Symbol Wilds Reels. When a Fist symbol activates, it expands into a Wild Reel that starts from the position of the First symbol and rises to the very top of the reel, which you'll see as a reel of colour of either red or blue. Fist symbols only activate if the expanded reel would be part of at least one winning combo once expanded. Fist Wild Reels are wild and substitute for all other paying symbols. Fist symbols belong to either the Red team or the Blue team which is indicated in the colour of the symbol. If the Fist symbol passes through, i.e. punches a Fighter symbol of the opposite team or a Wild symbol, a multiplier will be added to the wild reels. This multiplier will be applied to each winning combo it is part of. If the Fist symbol has travelled through multiple Figter symbols, the multiplier will be added together and then applied to the win. If a winning combo includes more than one Fist Wild Reel, their multipliers will be added together before being applied to the win. Multiplier values range between 2x - 200x. Each reel can only land one Fist symbol at one time.
Expert Verdict
Being a fan of arcade games, I was drawn to the Fist of Destruction slot. as soon as I launched it. Choosing your own fighter was a slick extra, which will probably be popular and mixed up the play experience. The concept of integrating two fighting teams into a slot game is an excellent one, and the idea has transferred well into the final slots experience. The 2 Throwdown! Bonuses, and the Fist Symbol Wild Reels were enjoyable, especially the multiplier element.
Using two contrasting colours makes the gameplay even more simple to follow. One observation, though, is that the game info tells us that it's the Red team vs. the Blue Team Blue, but surely it's orange rather than red unless my eyes are failing me?
Hacksaw is a great studio for creating immersive slots with a strong style that links to well-thought-out features, and they vary in style, so like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get next. I'm looking forward to its next game, Dawn of Kings which is due for release in March 2024.
Fast forward to April 2025 and Hacksaw Gaming released a clone in the Fighter Pit slot. It's the same game as Fist of Destruction but with different visuals/graphics. If you want more fighting action, NetEnt's Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior is highly recommended.
