Overview

With the D-Day slot, Nolimit City revisits the pivotal Normandy Landings of 1944, a momentous event in World War 2, now captured in the latest offering on online slot sites. This game transports players to a sepia and camouflage-coloured grid of 5 reels with a unique 3-4-5-4-3 row setup, distinguishing it from other slot games. The RTP stands slightly above average at 96.12%, and with its very high volatility, it promises intense gaming action.

Be on the lookout for the Atomic Wild feature, which can multiply wins by up to 100x, adding an explosive element to gameplay. If a Wild is already present, an additional multiplier is added, enhancing potential wins even further.

For enthusiasts eager to explore the strategic depths of the D-Day slot or seeking insights into other top slot games, OLBG is your go-to resource for the best online slots.

100 Spins Test

This 100 Spin will be updated by Steve Madgwick

100 spins is not a Real Test

We give every slot a 100 spin test to see just what it can do, or not as the case can often be - 100 spins is no reflection of the likelihood of any other 100-spin session, as RTP's are set over many millions and probably billions of spins. So this 100 spin test is just for entertainment and insight purposes

Game Data

The D-Day slot game info tells us that 'When knee-deep into the clutches of all-out war - you’ll need to unleash everything you’ve got at your withering hopes of victory. Here, pure chaos is your friend - and when mixed in with a lethal dose of grit and adrenaline, there might just be hope. It all comes down to this.' Which paints the picture perfectly for the setting of this brand-new game.

As well as the Atonic Wilds mentioned in the summary, look out for the 3 explosive bonus rounds to enjoy, where you can choose features and weapons to arm you. The rounds are called Overlord Spins, Neptune Spins and Invasion Spins.

During this in-depth D-Day slot review, you’ll be able to read about all aspects of this new release, so let’s embark on this review journey.

Graphics, Music, and Sound Effects

As expected from a game based on WWII, expect to see plenty of camouflage hues throughout your gameplay. As with all Nolimit City games, the graphics are exemplary and create a highly immersive gaming experience. The D-Day slot made me think of two excellent films based on WW2, Saving Private Ryan, and one of the best films ever made, Dunkirk.

The atmospheric and dramatic music during the base and bonus game blends well with the imagery. The base game shows top-level military planning their combat strategy, and the bonus rounds show the gritty battles for this crucial day in history.

Sound effects include gunfire shots, bomber planes flying overhead and the sound of soldiers shouting.

Key Features

Written by Slots Content Manager Jenny Mason

Now that I've told you about the summary, intro, graphics, music, and sound effects, up next will be the key game features.

At OLBG we write slot game reviews that include up-to-date info about essential features such as the theme, paylines, reels, bet range, and bonuses. I’ll finish off the review by talking about my play experience, first impressions and my expert verdict.

Theme - World War 2

WWII took place from 1939-1945 and affected everyone around the globe, the effects of which are still being felt today in global politics so it's a theme which means a lot to most folks. During the game, you'll spy on plenty of familiar items such as trenches, soldiers and 1940s military uniforms. The background image during the base game focuses on the military technology side of war, where you'll see large maps and model planes helping to decide where to attack from. The bonus games are about the battles so expect plenty of gunfire, explosions and action.

On the reels, you'll discover various military items, which, in order of highest value, first start with Stukas, which were German military aircraft; secondly, there are German tanks called Panzas. Next up are Howitzers, which are still used by the military today and are long-range cannon-type weapons. There are game features named after these weapons, too, so check out the Play Experience & First Impressions section for more info about these. The lower value symbols are depicted by a Fighter Pilot, an Anti-Air soldier, Foot-Soldier and a Commando.

Reels

The D-Day slot game is made up of 5 reels and 3-4-5-4-3 rows to play with.

Paylines

There are 10 paylines available where you can trigger wins on the D-Day slot game.

RTP

You'll have seen Return to Player or RTP as it's most commonly referred to on slot sites. This is a way of measuring theoretically what percentage of players' stakes will be returned to them over the long term. So the higher the number the better for players, the D-Day rate is slightly over the average at 96.12%.

Nolimit City uses this RTP figure as a default value, so if you shop around, you’ll find different rates. To save you some time, we’ve identified a few at some of the popular UK online casinos and added them to our table below.

It's worth noting that RTP is just one consideration when deciding which site to play at. You should also think about payment options, game library, customer support and welcome bonuses and deals. Our casino reviews look at this info and much, much more.

Stake Range

There’s a wide bet range for the D-Day slot game which starts at £0.20 and goes right up to £100.

Max Win

The max win for the D-Day game is a mega 55,555 x your stake and this feature is named 'Mission Accomplished.'

Wild Shape

There is an Atomic Wild symbol for the D-Day game. Here a random position is selected on the reel area and is then transformed into a Wild symbol with a random multiplier of 10, 20, 30, 50 or 100. If the chosen position is already Wild, then +1 will be added to the randomly chosen multiplier. If multiple features trigger at the same time, then Atomic Wild will always trigger first.

Free Spins

There are 3 free spins round to enjoy for the D-Day slot game. First up are the Neptune Spins, which include 2 features. You enter the round by landing 3 Scatter symbols. Once the round is triggered, you will get a pick-and-reveal option, which will reveal 2 out of 5 features which are weapons. If a Scatter lands on reel 5 while triggering Neptune Spins, then the Atomic Wild feature will get activated, and you will get only 1 option to pick and reveal from the remaining 4 features. Each revealed feature will activate at least once during Neptune Spins.

Secondly, there are Invasion Spins, which include 3 features. Landing 4 Scatters activates this round. Once triggered, you will get a pick-and-reveal option, which will reveal 3 out of 5 features. If a Scatter lands on reel 5 while triggering Invasion Spins, then the Atomic Wild feature will get activated, and you will get only 2 options to pick and reveal from the remaining 4 features. Each revealed feature will activate at least once during Invasion Spins. And finally, there are the action-packed Overlord Spins, which include 4 features. Landing 5 Scatter symbols will activate the Overlord Spins. The Atomic Wild feature is guaranteed, so you will get a pick-and-reveal option to reveal 3 features out of the remaining 4 features. Each revealed feature will activate at least once during Overlord Spins.

Play Experience & First Impressions

Wow, from the second I strapped in and started playing, I was a fan. The strong storyline, top features and immersive experience ticked a lot of boxes. The bonus rounds were heart-pounding with plenty of layers but were, importantly, easy to follow. The pick-and-reveal 'Choose Your Weapon' feature was a top idea, and this played out superbly on the screen as the weapons fired across when playing. The Bonus games included an extra layer fitting across the screens, and this feature appears on most NLC games and really makes an impact.

There were some other outstanding features, including the Howitzer feature. Here, it randomly chooses any 1-7 paying symbols and turns them into Wild symbols apart from the Commando symbol or Wild symbols. There is also the Panzer feature, where 2-5 Panzers can randomly appear in different rows, with 1 Panzer allowed per row. Every low-paying symbol on these chosen rows gets transformed into a Wild symbol except the Foot Soldier symbol. If Wild is present on the chosen row, the multiplier increases by +1 for that Wild symbol, which can make a huge difference to gameplay.

The Stuka fearure appears diagonally either from left to right or from right to left. It splits all paying symbols and doubles their size, which can bring in wins. There is a maximum of 7 Stukas per spin and one Stuka per diagonal. Finally, there is the Bomber feature, where 2-5 Bombers can randomly appear on different reels, and there is 1 Bomber per reel. All the paying symbols on these reels will be transformed into Wild symbols from top to bottom. If the Anti-Air symbol is present on the chosen reel, Wild transformation stops just above that Anti-Air symbol. If Wild is present on the chosen reel, then the multiplier increases by +1 for that Wild symbol. So there are buckets of fears to enjoy when playing D-Day.

Expert Verdict

This is not the first time NLC has forayed into the world of WW2-themed slot games, as they released Das xBoot in 2021 and Pearl Harbor in 2022. The D-Day slot is a stylish game, and people with an interest in the World Wars will find a lot of enjoyment in it; even if you haven't got much interest, you'll enjoy this game. WW2 is a remarkable and fascinating subject, and NLC has given the respect this historical day deserves with just a little sprinkling of NLC humour along the way - the balance is correct for this game. With a max win amount of 55,555x, it's definitely worth shouting about, especially when compared to other slot studios' recent releases. This makes D-Day NolimitCity's eleventh largest max win amount to date, it's close behind their last release, which was January 2024's Land of the Free at 55,700x. The RTP rate is a tiny bit higher than recent NLC rates; the last 2 games were Land of the Free at 96.08% and Devil's Crossroad at 96.06%, whereas D-Day is 96.12 %, so every little helps.

D-Day was easier to follow than some recent NLC games, which had too many instructions; this one has the magic mix of a great story, top features, plus straightforward messaging. The storytelling aspect and graphics are 10/0 and make this a highly engaging slot experience. D-Day is an explosive slot game. It takes slots to a whole other level, and I absolutely loved it. I always look forward to playing a new NLC game, and this one has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
