  • Brentford could be open to a deal if Wissa pushes for the move

Newcastle in Pole Position to Sign Brentford’s Yoane Wissa

Newcastle United are now odds-on favourites to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford, with bet365 pricing Eddie Howe’s side at 4/6 to get a deal done before the summer window closes.

With Alexander Isak reportedly unsettled and transfer targets proving elusive, Newcastle’s striker search is intensifying and Wissa appears to be high on the shortlist.

According to Sky Sports' Keith Downie, an initial £25m bid was knocked back earlier this week, but Brentford are understood to value the Congolese forward closer to £35m.

Wissa scored 19 Premier League goals last season and his pace, versatility and pressing ability would offer a direct replacement, or partner, for Isak should the Swede stay.

What the expert says...
Wissa ticks a lot of boxes for Newcastle as he's Premier League-ready, dynamic in the final third, and relatively affordable in a tight market. If they get this one done, it could prove one of the summer’s shrewder signings.

Pressure Mounting on Newcastle to Get Deals Done

Newcastle’s lack of activity in the window so far has raised questions from fans, especially with Callum Wilson already having departed and Isak attracting interest from several European giants.

Wissa’s proven Premier League experience and physical profile would suit Eddie Howe’s system and the odds suggest confidence in the North East that a deal can be struck before the opening weekend.

Howe will be understandably frustrated with how Newcastle have acted in the transfer window so far and movement is expected to happen in the coming weeks of the market.
