Vienna is the 6/5 favourite to top the EIU ranks as the most liveable city in 2023

The Global Liveability Ranking is published yearly by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) to rank more than 170 cities across the world on their overall liveability.

2023 will be no different with their official rankings expected at some point in June and Vienna will be looking to top the ranks yet again.

The Austrian capital city was ranked number 1 ahead of Copenhagen in the 2022 rankings having won previously in 2018 and 2019.

Bookmakers make Vienna the 6/5 favourite to be voted the best city to live in in the world ahead of Copenhagen in the betting market.

Copenhagen just behind in the betting at 5/2

Copenhagen is the second favourite in the betting market to top the most liveable city rankings and the city came just behind Vienna last year.

With a score of 98 compared to Vienna's 99.1 there wasn't too much difference in the two, but Copenhagen will have to improve if it wants to top the leaderboard this year.

The rankings are based on stability of the city, healthcare, culture, education and infrastructure and it's fair to say that every city towards the top of the betting hits every criteria well.

We take a look at last year's rankings for most liveable city in the world

Last year's rankings saw Vienna at the top of the leaderboard, with 2021's winner Auckland nowhere to be seen in the Top 10.

New Zealand and Australia dominated 2021's results but in 2022 they only had Melbourne in the Top 10 of the rankings.
