Betting is available for this year's Women's Prize for Fiction with Barbara Kingsolver's Demon Copperhead the early 2/1 favourite to win the prestigious award.

Bookmakers have odds available following the announcement of the finalists last week with 6 books chosen in the final running for the award.

The Prize is an international one with four of the list being British with one American and one Irish author in the shortlist to win the Women's Prize for Fiction.

The latest betting odds suggest there's a 33% chance that Barbara Kingsolver wins the award this year ahead of the revealing in June.

The 2023 shortlist for the Women's Prize for Fiction has been whittled down to the final 6 with the final books as follows:

  • Black Butterflies by Priscilla Morris
  • Pod by Laline Paull
  • Fire Rush by Jacqueline Crooks
  • Trespasses by Louise Kennedy
  • The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell
  • Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver

Maggie O'Farrell and Barbara Kingsolver are both previous winners of the award back in 2020 and 2010 respectively.

Odds also given for the Nobel Prize for Literature this year

Can Xue remains the betting favourite to win the Nobel Prize For Literature with this award given towards the back end of the year.

Deng Xiaohua, better known by her pen name Can Xue, was in contention for the award back in 2019 according to China Daily and four years it's the same again with Xue leading the way in the betting market.

Paddy Power's updated odds say there's a 12.5% chance of Xue winning the award according with four writers just behind as joint second favourites at odds of 9/1.
