Lily Gladstone is 1/2 to win Best Actress in what is the tightest category of the night

It's well and truly awards season and the biggest night of the year in cinema comes this weekend with the 96th annual Academy Awards taking place in Hollywood.

Bookies are offering odds on some of the biggest awards of the night with the Best Actress category looking like the tightest of the night with Lily Gladstone the current favourite at 1/2.

Most of the big categories sees the favourite well clear with favourites as short a price as 1/50 in the Best Picture and Best Director categories, but this one is a lot tighter.

Gladstone made history with her nomination by becoming the first Native American to be nominated for the top prize and a win in this category would be monumental.

The latest odds from William Hill suggest an implied probability of 66% that Gladstone wins the award, with Emma Stone following closely behind with a 40% chance.

Emma Stone is the main rival to Gladstone for the Best Actress award according to the latest betting market, with her odds currently sitting at 6/4.

Stone is nominated for her role in Poor Things in what has been described as a 'career-best' performance by the actress.

The 35-year-old has already won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in La La Land back in 2017 and looks to become the 21st woman to do the double at this year's show.
