Next Dr Who Betting Odds

Olly Alexander remains at the head of the betting for the next DR Who despite outright stating in a radio interview that he will not be taking the role when Jodie Whittaker steps down at the end of this series, and that is coupled with his manager dismissing rumours back as far as June this year.

When asked directly on Capital FM Radio 'Are you going to be playing Dr Who', Olly Laughed and stated 'No', not expanding beyond that - his manager has also exterminated rumour by stating that he is concentrating on his music for now.

Odds quoted are from various bookmakers, some candidates appear in some books and not on others, the most popular picks right now include:

Actor Odds Probability
Olly Alexander 7/2 22%
Kris Marshall  11/2 15%
Lenny Henry 6/1 14%
Michael Sheen 7/1 12.5%
Micael Coel 7/1 12.5%
Richard Ayoade 9/1 10%

**Probability percentage figures include bookmakers overround - odds correct at 25/8/2021

Olly Alexander remains the bookmaker's favourite to become the next Dr. Who despite outright denying he will be playing the role and his manager exterminating rumours by stating he will be concentrating on his music for now.

Richard Ayoade

Potential Dr Who replacement Richard Ayoade

Richard Ayoade looks perfectly set for an affable, complicated but adventurous Doctor, and may be a little more available than previously imagined after reports of Channel 4's Crystal maze, for which he has most recently been the presenter, being axed.

The Actor cum comedian cum broadcaster cum presenter is as versatile as the list suggests and is best known for his awkward character Maurice Moss in the IT Crowd.

As comfortable behind the cameras as in front of it, with the Crystal Maze gone, a move to the Tardis seems the most natural thing in the world for Richard Ayoade.

Lenny Henry and Michael Sheen

Actor Michael Sheen image

Michael Sheen was recently voted as the most popular choice for the new Doctor who from a pre-determined list sent out to magazine readers. This despite not previously being included in the Next Dr Who Betting Odds

That result saw Sheen shoot up to 2nd favourite behind Olly Alexander another potential Tardis resident, [although he might have to bend down to get in], is Comedian and actor Lenny Henry.

Too Old

The main thing that might be against Lenny Henry grabbing the role is his age, the eldest actor walking to the role to date, takes us right back to the very first Doctor, William Hartnell who was still 7 years Henry's junior taking the role on for the first time at the age of 55. Dr. Who betting stats could lead us to the next most likely candidate

The Eldest Dr. Who to date was William Hartnell who introduced us to the character back in 1963. At 62, Lenny Henry is 7 years older than that and 27 years older than current Dr. Who Jodie Whittaker
