Liberal Democrats are the 10/11 favourites to win the upcoming Mid-Bedfordshire By-Election

The Mid-Bedfordshire By-Election is set to take place next month following Nadine Dorris resignation and bookmakers are offering odds on which party will win the vacant seat.

Liberal Democrats are the current favourites at 10/11 to win the By-Election which doesn't yet have a set date in October but it's expected to be held on either the 12th or 19th.

Emma Holland-Lindsay is the Liberal Democrats representative in Mid-Bedfordshire and she current represents Leighton Buzzard on the Central Bedfordshire Council after winning the seat from the Conservatives in May's local elections.

The latest betting odds now suggest that she will kick on from that and take up the main seat in Mid-Bedfordshire with the betting odds suggesting there's a 52% chance of Holland-Lindsey winning at the polls.

Mid Bedfordshire By-Election Winner Odds Probability

Nadine Dorries finally resigned from the role more than two months after she announced she was stepping down

Nadine Dorries announced that she would quit as an MP "with immediate effect" two months ago and it's been far from immediate with the Mid-Bedfordshire constituency waiting and waiting for her to leave.

It took until the 27th August for Dorries to finally step down with a damning resignation letter where she told current Prime Minster Rishi Sunak that "history will not judge you kindly".

Part of her resignation letter said that the country was run by a "zombie Parliament" and that she would finally give the government the writ to be moved for the By-Election that they are "desperately seeking to take place".

Odds also given for Tamworth's By-Election

Tamworth is another constituency up for By-Election following the suspension of MP Chris Pincher with his appeal of the suspension rejected earlier this week.

Suspension as an MP automatically triggers a recall petition in which a by-election can be triggered and all that needs to happen is 10% of constituents sign that recall petition.

Bookies now make Labour the 1/5 favourites to win the potential by-election in which they would need a swing of just over 21% to take the Tamworth seat according to the BBC.

Tamworth By-Election Winning Party
Odds Probability
Labour 1/5 83.3%
Conservatives 3/1 25.0%
Liberal Democrats 25/1 3.8%
Greens 100/1 1.0%
Reform UK 100/1 1.0%
What the expert says...

Labour have an 83% chance of winning the Tamworth seat if the By-Election was to happen later this year with bookies putting Labour as the 1/5 favourites in the market! It looks increasingly likely that it'll take place in the coming weeks if Chris Pincher's suspension is upheld.
