Nadine Dorries resigned from the role more than two months after she announced she was stepping down

Nadine Dorries announced that she would quit as an MP "with immediate effect" and it was far from immediate with the Mid-Bedfordshire constituency waiting and waiting for her to leave.

It took until the 27th August for Dorries to finally step down 78 days after her original announcement with a damning resignation letter where she told current Prime Minster Rishi Sunak that "history will not judge you kindly".

Part of her resignation letter said that the country was run by a "zombie Parliament" and that she would finally give the government the writ to be moved for the By-Election that they are "desperately seeking to take place".
