Irish Artists Dominate the Market

The latest betting suggests an all-Irish showdown for the 2025 Mercury Prize, with CMAT and Fontaines D.C. well clear of the field.

CMAT’s critically acclaimed album has earned widespread praise for its bold mix of country-pop and storytelling lyricism, while Fontaines D.C. have continued to build on their Mercury-nominated past with another standout record showcasing their signature post-punk style.

Elsewhere in the betting, Britpop icons Pulp (11/2) remain strong outsiders after their surprise new release reignited fan nostalgia.

Their inclusion on the shortlist has boosted interest among punters, though they remain behind the Irish frontrunners.

Jazz innovator Emma-Jean Thackray (9/1) and experimental pop star FKA Twigs (9/1) complete the top five, each representing distinctive sounds that could appeal to this year’s Mercury judging panel.

Expert Insight

What the expert says...
CMAT has been the clear favourite since the shortlist announcement and momentum is still growing ahead of the awards night. Fontaines D.C. are the strongest challengers, though. They’ve been Mercury favourites before and have the critical edge to cause an upset.
