The Brazilian FA have requested for bans for players who didn't play for their country last week
Five teams, eight players. Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Leeds have all been informed by FIFA that they are unable to select certain players who were called up by the Brazilian FA last week but didn't travel. With Brazil being on the UK's red-list, some Premier League clubs insisted that their players stay with them rather than travel to their international games and have to quarantine.
Despite this, there are hopes that some kind of agreement is in place ahead of this weekend's games, with key players set to miss key games in an important part of the season.
Leicester odds slashed following this news, with Ederson and Jesus out for Man City
Leicester were as high as 11/2 with some bookies to win against Champions Manchester City this week, but following the reports that certain Brazilian players will be banned from playing they have been slashed by betting sites to 9/2. Manchester City will be without goalkeeper Ederson and with sub keeper Zack Steffen testing positive for COVID-19 during the international break, it means they will have 36 year old Scott Carson in net for this one.
Gabriel Jesus will also not be able to play in this game if the ban is passed and that will be a big loss for City as he has arguably been their best player so far this season, starting on the wing rather than his natural centre forward position.
Leeds host Liverpool on Sunday with influential players Alisson and Fabinho both set to miss
Leeds will be hoping to capitalise on Liverpool's missing players, with Alisson set to be replaced by Adrian in goal in this game. When that has happened in the past it hasn't gone well, with Adrian at fault for key goals conceded in both the Premier League and Champions League in recent seasons.
The lack of these players for Liverpool has seen Leeds odds tumble down to just 7/2 from 5/1 with betting sites, as bookmakers think that this game will be more contested for the sides. Leeds though will also be without key player Raphina who is also part of the ban from the Brazilian FA.
