Kenny Beats Chris Hoy's 6 Olympic Golds
Jason Kenny has edged past Sir Chris Hoy’s 6 Olympic Gold Medals with a 7th in the Veodrom in Tokyo and in doing so has seen bookmaker odds of 66/1 obliterated into just 2/1 to win the BBC Sports Personality of the year.
Those betting odds suggest that a Gold in the Kerin event has improved his chance of winning from just 1.5% before the event to a 33% chance and vying with Tom Daley to get the BBC Honor at the end of the year.
66/1 into 2/1 Gives Kenny a 50% Shout Of Winning SPOTY
Kenny is now in a fight with Tom Daley to pick up the year end award.
Current Sports personality of the Year Betting Odds
Name | Odds | Chance |
---|---|---|
Jason Kenny | 2/1 | 33% |
Tom Daley | 5/2 | 28% |
Adam Peaty | 9/1 | 10% |

Jason joins wife Laura as one of the Bookmakers Favourites for the Title
Kenny’s wife Laura has previously topped the bookmaker's favourites position in this market, having edged out Tom Daley after her Gold success, but she is now 4th favourite behind her husband, Daley, and swimmer Adam Peaty.
Having made Olympic success with her Gold in the inaugural women's Madison event and becoming the bookies favourite, she disappointingly crashed out of the Omnium.
Kenny Favourite to win Sports Personality of the Year Award
Both Jason and his Wife Lauras have been favourites to win the award subsequent to winning Gold in Tokyo
5 Cyclists have Won SPOTY since 2008
Kenny can go to the BBC Studio with an air of confidence knowing that Cycling is not a sport that is ignored when it comes to the end of the year award.
He could become the 5th Cyclist to win SPOTY since 2008
Former winners of the prize since 2008 include compatriates Chris Hoy, Mark Cavendish, Bradley Wiggins and Geraint Thomas
SPOTY Winner | Year |
---|---|
Sir Chris Hoy | 2008 |
Mark Cavendish | 2011 |
Sir Bradley Wiggins | 2012 |
Geraint Thomas | 2018 |
Daley and Kenny have 60% of the Betting Market
Jason Kenny and Tom Daley are the clear favourites to win the BBC Sports Personality award and are so clear of the rest on the betting that between them they hold the majority of the betting market meaning that there is a 60% chance it will be either the Diver or Cyclist on the night.
Jason Kenny has broken records at the Olympics whilst Tom Daley has been the housewife's favourite for a decade. It's a tough call for the winner, but it does look like it will be one of the pair.
