  • Ne Zha 2 (8/15) remains odds-on to finish 2025 as the highest-grossing global release.
  • Avatar: Fire and Ash (7/4) is expected to challenge when released later this year.
  • Ne Zha 2 has already crossed $1.9 billion worldwide, dwarfing rivals such as Lilo & Stitch and A Minecraft Movie.

Ne Zha 2 Odds-On Favourite to Be 2025’s Highest Grossing Film

With global box office results already shaping the cinematic landscape, Ne Zha 2 remains the odds-on favourite with betting sites to finish 2025 as the highest-grossing movie worldwide

The animated sequel has already stormed past the $1.9 billion mark, putting clear daylight between itself and the chasing pack.

Bookmakers currently price Ne Zha 2 at 8/15 to top the year-end chart, with James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash seen as the only serious challenger at 7/4.

Ne Zha 2 is the highest grossing Chinese movie ever and it'll take a big run from Avatar to challenge for the top spot.

What the expert says...
With Ne Zha 2 already passing the $1.9 billion milestone, it’s firmly in pole position to finish as 2025’s box office leader. However, never underestimate James Cameron. Avatar: Fire and Ash will be released later in the year, and given the franchise’s global pulling power, it’s the only film seen as a realistic challenger.
