Labour's odds now 1/14 to win the most seats at the next General Election

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made more hints around when the next General Election will be earlier this week, saying that his "working assumption" is that the election will take place in the second half of the year.

There had been rumours in recent weeks that we would see a May General Election with several local elections set to take place then but now it looks less likely that'll be the case.

Labour Leader Keir Sir Keir Starmer and Liberal Democrat Leader Sir Ed Davey have both accused Sunak of being a 'squatter' inside 10 Downing Street suggesting he is outstaying his time in charge.

Legally though no General Election needs to take place this year with the latest date for the election on 28th January 2025.

Paddy Power's latest betting odds say there's a 1/14 chance of Labour having the most seats at the General Election with a big win expected for Starmer's party.

What the expert says...
This General Election will be about "hard-working people", a phrase we will hear incessantly in 2024. Those workers are currently placing their bets on Labour winning the most seats with the odds slashed to 1/14.

Conservatives are now as big as 11/2 with bookies to get the most seats

Sunak's Conservative Party have now drifted right out to 11/2 to win the most seats at the next General Election with those odds putting them at the longest they've been in months.

Labour have shortened further and further every month with the election looking like it'll only be going one way if the bookmakers have it right.

The latest betting odds now suggest there's just a 15% chance that the Conservatives win the most seats at the next election therefore staying in power and likely seeing Sunak stay in charge of the party.

Kemi Badenoch remains favourite to replace Sunak as Conservative Party Leader

Kemi Badenoch is still the betting favourite to be the next leader of the Conservative Party with Sunak expected to step down if he loses the election.

Business Secretary Badenoch shortened into favourite towards the back end of last year after her performance in the Tory Party Conference.

Badenoch's odds now sit at 11/4 to become the next leader of the Conservatives with Penny Mordaunt second favourite suggesting it'll be a female leader of the party we see next.
