Grand Theft Auto 6 leads the betting odds for 2025's Game of the Year

Betting odds are already offered with betting sites for the 2025 Game Awards with the Game of the Year category the biggest that is given on the night.

December's show is still months away but the latest odds have already placed Grand Theft Auto 6 as the clear favourite for 2025's Game of the Year despite it still not having an official release date.

Early news from Rockstar Games said that we would see the game released in Fall 2025 but we have since had no confirmation of when that will be since it's original December 2023 reveal.

If the game is released in the latter half of the year though it seems all but certain that it will win Game of the Year and the latest odds go evens that it will do so.

Those odds suggest a 50% chance of it winning the big prize at The Game Awards 2025 with some other big titles following behind in the early betting market.

What the expert says...
It's no surprise to see GTA 6 lead the way for the 2025 Game of the Year award with the highly anticipated release set to come towards the latter stages of the year. Bookies have given it a 50% chance of winning game of the year and that will likely grow further if it does come out in 2025.

Other contenders in market include Death Stranding 2

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is a big competitor for GTA 6 this year with the original Death Stranding game also nominated for the award back in 2019.

That game though missed out on Game of the Year to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice but this year could well be the year in which it finally gets the big prize.

Hideo Kojima's highly anticipated sequel is set to release as a Playstation exclusive at some point in 2025.

Astro Bot won the 2024 Game of the Year award

Team Asobi game Astro Bot was crowned 2024's Game of the Year at The Game Awards back in December in what was a massive night for the game with a total of four awards wins on the night.

Astro Bot beat some big name games on the night such as Black Myth Wukong and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to go against the odds and be crowned winner of the award.

The PS5 exclusive was given one of the highest Metacritic scores of the year and proved just how good it was with a Game of the Year victory.
