Piastri favourite for Imola glory after storming start to season

The 2025 Formula 1 season has a new front-runner and his name is Oscar Piastri.

After winning four of the opening six races, the McLaren driver arrives in Imola as the firm 5/4 favourite with bet365 to take the chequered flag at this weekend’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Piastri's consistent dominance has reshaped the pecking order in F1 betting with Max Verstappen now drifting to 5/1 behind both McLaren drivers in the market.

Lando Norris is a close second favourite at 7/5 in the latest market with UK Betting Sites to win this weekend's race.

What the expert says...
Piastri is now the driver to beat. With Verstappen drifting and Norris close behind, this could be McLaren’s most dominant race weekend yet. But at 5/1, Verstappen might still tempt value hunters if Red Bull can deliver a clean Sunday.

McLaren in control but who can challenge?

While Piastri and Norris have taken turns leading the McLaren charge, it's the Australian who’s showing championship-winning consistency.

Still, Norris at 7/5 remains a serious threat, especially given the pace of both McLaren's this season.

Max Verstappen, meanwhile, continues to struggle with Red Bull’s speed issues and now finds himself in unfamiliar territory as a longshot compared to his 2023 dominance.

George Russell and Charles Leclerc round out the top five, but both are largely seen as podium hopefuls rather than race winners at this stage of the season.
