I break betting odds news as it happens, so you’re never left behind when the market moves or a top offer lands.

  • The Queen's speech (BBC) is the favourite to be the most watched show on Christmas Day this year with bookies
  • Strictly Come Dancing the lowest Reality Show in the betting market at 10/1 odds
  • Coronation Street 20/1 to be most watched show on Christmas Day making it the best chance for a Soap to win the viewing figures this year

The Queen is favourite to have most watched TV show this Christmas Day

The Queen is expected to have the most watched TV show on Christmas Day this year, with bookies making her speech on the BBC specifically, evens favourite to be most watched.

Last Christmas, The Queen had the highest Ratings altogether with 8.14m viewers and on the BBC alone with 6.4m viewers.

Call The Midwife was second highest in terms of viewership last year with 5.4m viewers and is second favourite in this year's market with betting sites.

Most Christmas Day Viewers  Odds Implied Probability
The Queen (BBC) 1/1 50%
Call The Midwife 100/30 23.1%
Blankety Blank Christmas Special 7/2 22.2%
Michael McIntyre's Christmas Wheel 7/1 12.5%
Strictly Come Dancing 10/1 9.1%
The Larkins Christmas Special 12/1 7.7%
The Abominable Snow Baby 16/1 5.9%
Coronation Street 20/1 4.8%

Blankety Blank and Michael McIntyre's Christmas Wheel are both also BBC shows that feature in the betting odds.

Game shows like those two may be the perfect type of show to get the family around the television.

The Queen's speech was the most watched show on Christmas Day last year and is the favourite to do the same again in a year which has again had struggles through the coronavirus pandemic.

Strictly Come Dancing features in the betting market at odds of 10/1

Strictly Come Dancing is one of the most watched shows on UK TV, with millions turning in every Saturday night.

The Christmas special of the show is a regular occurrence on Christmas Day, with it airing since 2004.

Last year's Strictly special featured various clips of past shows due to the coronavirus pandemic not allowing performers to dance together.

Fast forward to 2021 and the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special features stars such as Anne Marie and Adrian Chiles.

Coronation Street 20/1 to be the best viewed show on Christmas Day this year

Coronation Street proved to be the most popular soap on TV last year, with the highest viewing figures on Christmas Day amongst the Soaps.

Bookmakers though give Corrie a 20/1 chance of being the most popular show on Christmas Day for British viewers.

2020 TV Shows on Christmas Day Viewing Figures
The Queen (BBC, ITV, Sky) 8.14m
Call The Midwife (BBC) 5.43m
Blankety Blank (BBC) 5.26m
Strictly Come Dancing (BBC) 4.86m
The Wheel (BBC) 4.66m
Coronation Street (ITV) 4.55m

Looking at the viewing figures from last year, the bookies have clearly priced up their market based on the UK's TV figures last time out.

As shown above, Coronation Street was popular last year, but still lagged far behind The Queen's speech with nearly half as many viewers.

Coronation Street is 20/1 to be the most popular show on UK TV this year. Last year the Soap had over 4 million viewers, but lagged behind The Queen's speech with half of the amount of viewers Elizabeth II had.
