The sequel to the all-time Box Office leading film Avatar, released in 2009, has been highly anticipated ever since the original film was released 13 years ago.

Paddy Power keeps Top Gun: Maverick as the favourite in the betting though at 4/9 giving it a 69% chance of staying as the highest grossing film of the year.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout was Cruise's previous highest grossing film with $791m earned globally but that's been surpassed by Top Gun: Maverick.

Top Gun: Maverick has now gone past Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War in the US Domestic all-time chart with $709m earned.

Avatar had massive success partly due to the 3D technology that the movie had, being one of the first big Box Office films to use the 3D technology to its maximum potential.
