There has been much speculation and betting on the Next James Bond being portrayed by a woman, That woman chiefly being Lashana Lynch whose Nomi character in No Time to Die assumes the 007 positions in Bond's absence.

However, Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the Bond films has stated to BBC radio 4 that “James Bond is a male character. I hope that there will be many, many films made with women, for women, by women, about women.”, pouring water on the ever-growing fire of support for a female in the lead role."

Betting sites have not reacted by lengthening the odds of Lyshana Lynch grabbing the role, however, and she remains a 6/1 chance along with a host of other British Actors in the Next James Bond betting.

99% Chance Bond will be James and not Jenny!

If we combine all of the odds being quoted for every prospective actor or actress to play James Bond now that Danial Craig has stepped down we find that there is a better than 99% chance in betting terms that Bond will remain hairy, and arguably sexist.

Lyshana Lynch is the only female quoted in any betting market we could find, (and we found 15!) against over 20 male actors with betting odds attached to their chances.

Bond is not 007

The main confusion is around the fact that whilst James Bond is intrinsically linked with the 007 moniker, 007 is only the agent identification number and not the character, so whilst it is true to say Lyshana Lynch has become the first female to play 007 thanks to being assigned the number in the latest Bond realise, No Time to Die, she did not BECOME James Bond in doing so

So when thinking about having a bet on themarket for the next James Bond, remember, Bond will be Bond no matter if he remains working as a secret service agent or not.

So will it be Tom Hardy, Rene-Jean Page, Luke Evans or James Norton - Who knows? not even Q I would suspect!

Bond will always be male, that cannot change, so bookmakers are spot on with a better than 99% chance of James Bond being played by a male actor after Daniel Craig. Shrewd bookmakers continue to take bets at 6/1 on Lyshana Lynch though
