The All Ireland Football Championship for 2024 will be fought out by Connacht champions Galway and Ulster runners-up, Armagh. This will be the first time these two teams will have met for the Sam Maguire Cup.

All-Ireland Football final 2024

The 2024 All-Ireland final takes place at 3.30pm on Sunday 28th July at Croke Park and will feature two teams who have never faced each other in a final; Armagh v Galway:

The 2024 final can be watched via BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport website & BBC Two Northern Ireland with Sunday's coverage beginning at 15:00 BST. 

Galway have won the All-Ireland Championship nine times, the last success coming in 2001. They have been beaten finalists on fourteen occasions, the last time being in 2022 when they lost 0-16 0-20 to Kerry.

Galway's route to the final:

Connacht Championship Final: Galway 0-16 Mayo 0-15

Group 1, Game 1: Galway 2-14 Derry 0-15

Group 1, Game 2: Westmeath 0-11 Galway 1-12

Group 1, Game 3: Armagh 1-12 Galway 0-15

Preliminary quarter-final: Galway 0-14 Monaghan 0-11

Quarter-final: Dublin 0-16 Galway 0-17

Semi-final: Donegal 0-15 Galway 1-14

Armagh have won the All-Ireland Championship once before in 2002. They have alos finished runners-up on three occasions, the last of those being in 2003 when they lost 0-09 to 0-12 to Tyrone.

Armagh's route to the final:

Ulster Championship final: Armagh 0-20 Donegal 0-20 (after extra-time, Donegal won 6-5 on penalties)

Group 1, Game 1: Armagh 0-16 Westmeath 0-11

Group 1, Game 2: Derry 0-15 Armagh 3-17

Group 1, Game 3: Armagh 1-12 Galway 0-15

Quarter-final: Armagh 2-12 Roscommon 0-12 

Semi-final: Armagh 1-18 Kerry 1-16 (after extra-time)

The first All-Ireland Football Final took place in 1887 when Limerick beat Louth 1-4 to 0-3.

Nineteen different teams have taken the title with Kerry winning the most championships with 38 wins.

Dublin won six consecutive titles between 2015 and 2020 and have also won nine of the last thirteen championships!
