Looked very good indeed!

when you look back at the previous winners of the race it probably suggests the futures bright!

Interest that Mullins said he doesnt show that kind of performance at home...i like that in a horse..but it also might suggest others are looking a lot better in comparison!

But its the track that matters..early days for the bumper but that performance is a very good standard setter.

I was told about this chap some time ago, you take a chance, at the minute its looking a good punt, but much can change.

It's traditionally a hot race, and he's demolished the rest, only time will testify whether the rest were decent or not.

Presume we wont see him till March now, but many more bullets to be fired in this Bumper division.

More money today for Getabird, now into a best price of 6/1.

Which horses might challenge Getabird for the Bumper?

Leading market fancies with trainer, current RPR details and best price:
  • Getabird WP Mullins 132 6/1
    Ballyward WP Mullins 124 14/1
    West Coast TIme JP O'Brien 121 14/1
Next Destination WP Mullins 116 20/1
Come To Me WP Mullins 119 20/1
Carter McKay WP Mullins 120 20/1
    Samcro G Elliott 118 20/1
    25/1 Bar
Do any of our members have any fancies from the list above or at bigger prices?

Are there any British contenders that can challenge the Irish market leaders?

U can rule Samcro out, Gigginstown wont send him, we see it every year.

Always love to see the market develop for this on raceday, some right gambles come the late afternoon!

Yeah, he's already been ruled out...no mission he goes.

Hard one to take a view on after just one run....all have been pretty impressive (ones a front of market).

Right now, my main fancies would be Ballyward and Come To Me.

Come To Me is particularly interesting in my opinion...it was his first race in his life, he drifted and yet he still hosed up. The majority of others in the market have had a PTP run also.

He had to concede weight to Burren Life, 7 pounds. Now i know Burren Life has went on to be beaten again...but he is liked by Elliot...

My only worry might be will he stay up the hill as well as say a Ballyward who has already won over 2m4? Hard to tell off one run of course.........

Looking at the form, it appears to me that Getabird beat a bunch of trees.

The only market leader i''m currently monitoring is West Coast Time. Won easily on debut and his dam Refinement was a very smart mare ( finished 2nd and 4th in two Champion Bumpers, 3rd behind Nicanor and Denman in the 2006 Neptune )

I think the form of Getabirds win, like you say, isn't working out well Of the placed horses behind him, 6 have run, no wins.

I think the stable confidence, whether justified or not, is driving this market.

After the last few years of being quite successful in this race i've been having a look at a few of the priced up horses for this race. I tend to avoid the mullins horses at this stage as there are about 20 of them at the head of the market.

A couple that interest me early on are Western Ryder (Greatrex) and Cause Toujours (Skelton).

Now dont get me wrong these horses may not even make the cotswolds, however they both fit the profile i like to look for in a bumper winner. Both won races with 13 or more runners and WR has won a decent prized bumper aswell.

Usual stats i look for are, winners of 13+ runner fields, 4k+ prize money, can possibly stay a little further than 2miles.

Getabird completes his Cheltenham preparations with a run out in the last race at Gowran Park today.

He's been backed again all week, into a best 4/1....plenty of takers on Betfair also.

The form of that debut victory still looks weak, but the time was quick for your average Bumper. I still maintain stable confidence, whether well advised or not is driving this gamble.

Getabird wins the 2f sprint!

Nothing learnt except he still has 4 legs.
