5:20 York Tips

In my humble opinion, Andrew Balding's 3yo should've got the race in the Stewards' room last time out at the Goodwood Festival. Up only 3lb here, it must be the bet.

Has been given some tough tasks this year, running in a Group 3 and a Listed race in two of those four starts. Drawn on the wrong side over 6f at this track here in June, but bounced back to form over this trip at Chester last time out from this same mark.

Unexposed 3yo filly, four career runs. A respectable turf debut during May after three solid runs on the AW. She was beaten 4L that day in a 6f Listed contest, finishing strong after being outpaced halfway. She was up against plenty of rivals rated 100+, and the winner on her next start was only beaten nk at Royal Ascot in a 20-runner Group 1 race. She's had 3 months off the track to strengthen up and now runs in handicap company. This extra furlong should suit her, good draw/jockey, and a tempting opening mark of 91.

Jim Goldie's Eternal Sunshine has been knocking on the door for a while and knocked even harder at York today, finishing 2nd over 5 furlongs, albeit getting a lot of weight from almost all of the other runners. Well in again in this but stepping up to 7 furlongs, which is a gamble. Jim Goldie is very shrewd and in great form, so worth a small interest.

Won over 6 furlongs on good to firm ground at Newmarket on penultimate start but disappointed on good ground next time out when last seen over this trip at Goodwood 23 days ago. This step up in trip is of interest and if the ground remains good to firm she could go well at a decent price.
