6:30 Wolverhampton Tips

This looks between the top two in the market: Woodhay Whisper and Em Jay Kay, with both running to pretty good form. I'll back them both with the forecast too.

Em Jay Kay has won 5 of his 46 starts and looks interesting here in his current form. He won over course and distance last November off 62 and returned to the winners' enclosure off 59 at Newcastle nine days ago. He ran well off 5 lbs higher back there three days ago but is 3 lbs lower here, so has a good chance of a sixth career win.

Sam's Hope runs off top weight tonight, is in fine form at present winning 3 of the last 4, goes well here and if overcoming the wide draw of stall 11 will have a big say in this race I feel

Decent efforts in his last two starts from the 6-year-old, in two Class 2 handicap races. A lower mark, drop in grade, and a longer trip all point to a possible big run tonight. He was rated 9 lb higher as recently as this summer.

Winner at Southwell in February. Fairly consistent efforts either side of a break since and has run well here a couple of times recently. Should be in the mix once again.

NEPTUNE LEGEND looks a fair price in what is a competitive Class 6 handicap. James Owen got a comfortable win out of a similar type yesterday (in the same ownership and also joined this yard from Tony Carroll), which caught my eye. A winner of just about his share, this high-mileage 6-y-o is not one for maximum stakes but could well reward as a win-and-place option.

Returns after a year off but on a dangerous mark. The new yard and scenery could provide the spark needed in this race.

A better run last time from Thank The Lord gives hope that he is coming back to form. He has been dropped two pounds to 57. His last wins at Chelmsford in late 2023 and early 2024 were off 62 and 57. So, if the ability remains, he could get involved this time and hold on for at least a place.
